A cool season, ornamental grass, Bottlebrush Grass can add interest and texture to a shady garden or woodland area. It grows actively when soil temperatures are cool, and may go dormant during hot summer months. It grows wide, feathered seedheads that give the plant its common name, as it resembles a bottlebrush.
Bottlebrush Grass has the previous Latin name Hystrix patula. | Botttlebrush Grass is a larval host plant to Northern Pearly Eye butterflies (Lethe anthedon).
