About This Plant

It may take a couple years to flower when grown from seed, but once it does, this orange-flowered plant is a magnet to numerous pollinators. It is a host plant for the Monarch butterfly and several other butterfly and moth species. Butterfly weed has a long tap root making it hard to transplant once established.
