Woolgrass is an aquatic sedge found in marshes, swamps, and steam or pond margins. It spreads via rhizomes and does well in both wet soils and standing water. It produces a fuzzy, copperish fruit that gives it its common name and adds winter appeal to a water garden.
Woolgrass can be planted and grown in submerged containers to prevent its spreading. Alternatively, it can be grown directly in the mud at the margins of ponds or bog gardens.
Alternate Names
Woolgrass Bulrush, Cotton Grass
