Fragrant, ethereal pink flowers top this plant, which would do well in a sunny, consistently moist garden. It is not drought tolerant and prefers soils that are rich in organic matter. It only produces pollen, no nectar, and spreads slowly.
The genus name Filipendula comes from the Latin words “filum”, meaning a thread, and “pendulus”, meaning hanging, because the root tubers in some species hang together with threadlike roots.
