Northeastern Bulrush is a member of the sedge family and occurs in ephemeral wetlands and beaver-influenced wetlands naturally. It prefers fluctuating water levels. It has a characteristic flower that resembles an exploding firework.
Northeastern Bulrush is listed as an endangered species, and is very rare to see in the wild. Further research is finding more populations throughout its range and it is currently being considered for removal from the endangered list.
