About This Plant
A great spring ephemeral for your woodland garden, this bellwort generates a large, drooping, yellow flower from which a number of native bees feed. It will spread slowly via rhizome and create a nice mass planting. Bellworts can be difficult to find for sale in nurseries but grow wild throughout most of the eastern US.

Large bellwort can have an overall droopy appearance, but when its seeds are set, it takes on a different look and can resemble a needle threading the stem through the leaves. | It was once believed to cure throat ailments since the bloom resembles the uvula in the back of the throat.
