About This Plant

An attractive shrub used in home landscapes and for its wildlife value, cranberrybush develops a bright red fruit (drupe) that resembles a true cranberry in size and color, but is more translucent when ripe. The tart fruit remains on the branches throughout the winter, until birds or small mammals eat them. Like most plants, it will produce more fruit with more sunlight exposure. Pretty, white lace-cap flower clusters appear in the spring. An individual plant has multiple stems, but does not spread into a thicket. The density of its stems provides excellent cover for wildlife.
