About This Plant

Spatterdock is an emergent aquatic perennial with large heart-shaped leaves attached to long, stout stems. They produce bright yellow cup-shaped flowers that open partially in the morning and close at night. They can spread aggressively through seed and rhizome and are best grown in submerged containers to be kept under control.
