About This Plant

Sometimes known as Aster spectabilis, this is a versatile plant, adapting to many soil conditions, although it seems to favor sandy soils and is drought-tolerant. It forms clumps and doesn't seem to like competition. Showy aster produces large flower heads for a long time. It is an important late season source of nectar, attracts many pollinators, and birds will eat its seed.
