About This Plant

Like other milkweeds, Poke milkweed is a host plant for monarch butterflies. It grows best in soils with high organic matter. It is a non-aggressive species of milkweed and prefers shadier conditions and moist soil. With its drooping blossoms that are sometimes tinged with pink or purple, they are valuable to many pollinators. Rabbits may nip young plants, so you may wish to protect them until well established.
