Gauzy tufts with a reddish tint top these short plants when they are setting seed, adding a cool texture to your landscape. Before going to seed, three pink, bowl-shaped flowers bloom. They look especially nice when planted in large groups, and the attractive seed heads will hold for about a month. They do particularly well in dry, hot conditions, and would be a nice addition to a rocky or sandy garden. They don't like too much competition and should be planted around like-sized plants so they don't get shaded out. They spread slowly via rhizome and overtime can form a nice ground cover.
