About This Plant

Jack-in-the-pulpit is a unique, fun plant for your woodland garden. "Jack" is the thin, pencil-like structure within the "pulpit"—the cup-like, hooded spathe covering, which may be green or striped with purple. Green berries ripen to bright red and may be consumed by birds. New plants typically take up to three years before "flowering" and can change sex year to year depending on nutrient availability. Grows best in soils with high organic matter.
