About This Plant

Commonly named because of the small hairs that cover its leaf stalks, fringed loosestrife has nodding, star-shaped, yellow flowers and grows well in wet areas and even shade. It is a hardy, fast-spreading groundcover and spreads via rhizomes and seed, so it can take over small habitats. In the spring, its foliage is maroon in color, which deters herbivores.
