About This Plant

False-indigo is a native shrub in the bean, or Fabaceae family. It's found in moist areas such as stream banks, moist woodlands, and floodplains. It tolerates a wide range of soil types and can also be found growing in ditches and along roadsides. It spreads through both reseedings and suckers, and can form dense thickets. The shrub and its unique, showy flowers are especially attractive when planted in groups.
