About This Plant

The Chestnut Oak is a native, deciduous tree that, like many oaks, provides significant ecological value through as a food source and shelter to many animals. The large oak does best in loamy soils, but is resilient and tolerates poorer, rocky soils as well. It produces relatively large acorns, and has distinctive, tightly ridged bark.
