About This Plant
More tolerant of alkaline soils and drought than other oak species, bur oak is great as a shade tree. It has a long tap root. Its leaves have 5-7 rounded lobes with two nearly midway down the main rib that pinch nearly to the middle, making the leaf look like a dancer in a dress.
