About This Plant

Sweet Bay Magnolia is grown as both a tree and a shrub. Its suckering lends it to spreading and creating open, shorter-stemmed forms, but it can also grow tall, and in very rare cases has reached up to 100 feet in height. It produces fragrant, white flowers that open in the morning and close during the night. It prefers full sun or part shade, and does best in moist to wet soils that are acidic.
