About This Plant

Sweet Birch is pioneer tree species, being one of the first to move in and grow quickly after a disturbance. It grows fastest when young, and can reach heights of up to 70 feet. It's fall foliage is known to be one of the most attractive of all the birches, producing a bright yellow color. It prefers moist, acidic, and well draining soils in full sun. One of the most distinguishing features of the Sweet Birch is the wintergreen scent produced by the tree's inner bark.
