About This Plant
Common Spring Beauty makes a nice addition to woodland gardens. The flowers may be varying shades of pink and white, with darker pink veins that serve as pollinator guides to its nectar. The flowers are typically only open on sunny days. Its little tubers are high in starch and said to have a nutty flavor. Differentiate Claytonia virginica from Claytonia caroliniana by the leaves – virginica has long, slender, grass-like leaves, while caroliniana has shorter, wider leaves.
